Past Prepared Us For the Future
In 1731 Peter Henckels registered the ZWILLING trademark with the Cutler’s Guild of Solingen, Germany. A brilliant idea indeed because that makes ZWILLING one of the oldest brands in the world & Germans are well known for their love of traditions. We have a 288-year-old brand history that we are eager to share with everyone & we are a modern, forward-thinking company that is all about future cooking trends & technologies.
CHOOSE ONLY THE BEST INGREDIENTS
Every great recipe starts with great ingredients. When it comes to our high-quality knives and cookware it is our ZWILLING special formula steel. It’s called “ZWILLING Sonderschmelze” and features an impressively well-balanced combination of chrome and carbon, which is the secret to producing a steel of supreme quality. Our master bladesmiths train for 8 years before they get their hands on our knives.
Heat it up
Forging is at the heart of the production of knives. The knife is given its shape by the use of temperature and force under extreme conditions. SIGMAFORGE knives are precision-forged from a single piece of steel. The result is a perfect geometry and we always strive for perfection when it comes to our knives. When you hold a ZWILLING product, you can be sure you are holding a piece of history.
Cool It Down
We have optimized the hardening process to obtain the optimum degree of hardness – because the right hardness is simply everything. If the steel is too soft, the knife will become blunt. If it too hard, it will break. Our special ice-hardening process guarantees flexible FRIODUR blades with extremely good cutting edge retention and exceptional corrosion resistance.
